PJatO OC: Flynn Winchester

So, you know I love Power Rangers, Supernatural, and Kingdom Hearts. Well, another thing I'm completely obsessed with is the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series(BTW's The Last Olympian was waking WIN!). I've followed it since the beginning of book one, and upon finishing Book 5: The Last Olympian, I was inspired to create my own Half-Blood OC.

I present to you, Flynn Winchester, Son of Artemis.

HOLD UP! Did he just say Artemis!? You read right, Olympifans, Artemis. First, I'll tell you the story of his birth. Flynn's father was a hunter, and a damn good one. He hunted respectably and justly. He was also born with the Gift of Sight, and saw through the Mist to see that monsters were real. He used his hunting skills to hunt the monsters. Artemis, though she swore never to fall in love with a man and to remain chaste, adored his hunting. So, she decided to bless him with a child as gratitude for his elegance and skill in the hunt. One night, Flynn's father saw a shining silver deer, gleaming like steel. He knew it was a sign, and shot his arrow. The arrow, despite the deer's size, sent it flying out of sight behind the trees. When Flynn's father finally found the arrow, it pinned an ornate silver blanket, and wrapped up in that blanket was Flynn. He was a "spoil of the hunt" just like Athena(who ALSO is a chaste goddess) has Brain-children.

Flynn grew, and as he did he learned how to hunt from his father, who was amazed at his inherent ability. Flynn never learned however, to shoot a bow and arrow, simply a gun, the tricks and facts his father had taught him about monsters, and the dagger his father gave him, Crescent Fang. Crescent Fang disguised itself as a necklace with a pendant reminiscent of two crescent moons in an X-formation. Artemis had given the dagger to his father, telling him to give it to Flynn when he learned to hunt. Flynn was the only one to access its hidden ability to turn into a chain at will, and he used that in his hunting. At the age of 10, his father was killed by monsters, and he fended for himself until he was 16. Annabeth found him in San Francisco and brought him back to Camp Half-Blood. His arrival happened to coincide with the Huntresses of Artemis. While the Hunters and Apollo Campers boasted about whose archery was better, Flynn asked if he could try. Thalia handed him her bow and arrows, and he shot an arrow perfectly, hitting the bullseye on his first try. He told them he never shot an arrow before, but that he enjoyed it. Some people murmured that he must be a Son of Apollo. When he shot his second arrow, it turned into a column if silver light that shot through the target, leaving a crescent moon symbol. It was then that everyone knew what he was--A son of Artemis.

He's the first and only son of Artemis. Artemis doesn't even treat him like a son, merely a male hunting partner. She keeps saying she would've given his father a girl, but he desired a boy. Flynn, like his mother, has auburn hair and greyish silver eyes. He dresses (in Percy's words) "like Hot Topic exploded). Upon being claimed, Artemis gives him a shield, Randwulf, made of silver and bronze. The image on its magically front changes with the phases of the moon. She also gives him a bow, the Lunahowler, that can shoot arrows of moonlight. Randwulf is disguised as a Hot Topic style bracelet, with studs shaped like the phases of the moon. When Flynn taps the full moon, Randwulf spirals out. The Lunahowler is disguised as a Claddagh Ring, which Flynn wears on his right middle finger. When he taps it, it transforms into a bow.

Now, his powers and Fatal Flaw. As a Son of Artemis, no one really knows the extent of his powers. Flynn does know he can emit moonlight from his body in rays and beams, and form moonlight arrows. With great strain, he can make physical objects from moonlight. He's very good at archery, hunting, and he is very good with animals, as he has a wild wolf that occasionally accompanies him. Somehow, they can communicate. His Fatal Flaw is that he is Sexist. Like Artemis favoring girls and The Hunteresses doing the same, children of Artemis are sexism toward the opposite gender, believing their own gender to be better. Now, Flynn's isn't as bad, like he doesn't go, "STFU B!TCH and make me a sammich", like he underestimates women, especially Annabeth, and he gets worried that if they handle weaponry or magic that they'll mess up and hurt either themselves or someone else. He's subconsciously sexist. To greater enforce that view, Flynn was born gay. He does a good job keeping it a secret, but eventually trusts Annabeth enough to tell her on a quest he, Annabeth, and Percy go on. On that quest, they encounter two demigods and Flynn's soon-to-be friends(his perpetual Grover and Annabeth), Veronica Spector and Bruce Cadence.(Hopefully I'll draw them too.)

Voila! My PJatO OC. Had trouble thinking up the weapons, and often worried whether or not 3 as too much, but eventually I settled on the fact that He's Artemis's son, and she would want him to be the best hunter around. In case you can't see, he also has a crescent moon belt buckle. I originally was going to name him Rafe("Wise Wolf") but then I felt the uncontrollable urge to name an OC of mine Flynn. And, as to the connection of his last name being Winchester and his Father hunting monsters....1) It was a reference to the Show Supernatural and 2) I really liked the name XD. Honestly, he is not related to Sam or Dean, it's just one big coinkidink.
