Beauty and Beast: A True Story

So, I'm a devoted follower of *KellyJane, and when I heard she was having a contest, I eagerly accepted the challenge! The premise of the contest is "What if They Were Real?" Basically, take any character from anything fictional and stick them in real life. For my entry, I decided to revamp Beauy and the Beast for the real life!

Here's teh story:

Isabelle Sonette is a junior at her high school, and one of the smartest in the whole school, let alone the class. She's alot different from other girls of her beauty, as they're mostly either cheerleaders or rich snobs. This difference attracts the attention of Garrison Narcisse, the captain of the football team and the most obnoxious and self-loving person in the entire school. His loyal henchman, whom he calls "Fuji" for lack of knowing his real name, or for knowing and not being able to pronounce the complicated asian name, is an unpopular and follows his every word, just so he can be seen with Garrison. Having had his way with most of the pretty girls in school, especially the three silly cheerleaders that follow him everywhere, Garrison sets his sights on the one girl he can't have: Belle.

It is nearing winter vacation and a new transfer student, Adam Princely comes to school. Everyone stays away from him, though, because he's just plain mean. He's down and angry/mopey all the time, and whenever anyone says hi or tries to help him, he flips out on them. Over winter break, one of Belle's friends, Maury, is roped into tutoring the transfer student, which everyone has nicknamed "The Beast". Belle realizes Maury is too timid and nice to deal with Adam, so, on the first day of winter break, she decides to help Maury out. Arriving at Adam's house, Belle convinces Adam to let him go home, and she agrees to tutor him in Maury's place.

While they're there, however, a flash snowstorm hits and Belle is stuck in Adam's woodland mansion until help comes or the snow melts. Garrison keeps calling her cell phone, but 1) she doesn't want to answer it and 2) the snowstorm as well as bad reception has rendered her phone useless, only able to receive calls but not make them. Belle soon finds out that Adam's house is infested with stray animals that Adam keeps as pets, naming them after who he says were old friends. Adam says Belle can go anywhere she likes except for the Western Wing of the mansion. Curiosity takes hold and she decides to investigate the West Wing. To her surprise, a couple of Adam's Pets(Lumiere, an abandoned beagle, Cogsworth, a fidgety guinea pig, and Mrs. Potts and Chip, a loving Tabby and her notch-eared kitten) lead her there. She finds an old high school yearbook and is surprised to see Adam's picture. In this yearbook, he looks like a totally different person: He's smiling, clean-shaven, his hair is cut, and he's wearing nice, rich clothes. Belle also finds alot of old pictures of the old Adam and a beautiful young woman, whom she guessed was his girlfriend.

Amidst her investigation, Belle also finds a red phone, the LG Rose VX2100, hooked up to a charger and plugged into the wall. Even though the phone was plugged into its charger, she sees that it is wavering between two and one bars of energy left. She's about to open it when Adam catches her, and yells at her so much that she stays in her room for a long time. She allows the pets in, as they want to comfort and help her, and one day Adam comes to her locked door, asking to speak with her. He says that he's sorry and he wants to explain over dinner.

She reluctantly agrees and opens the door to find him wearing some of his old clothes(only now they don't fit as well) and he made an attempt at shaving(though such a long time without shaving has left him and his razor a little rusty), but his hair is still long and unruly, keeping his eyes from view most of the time. He explains that This mansion once belonged to his rich parents, and there used to be servants here and everything. One day, when he was little, his parents got into a car accident and he was left with the house. Only a handful of servants stayed, and after going to school, Adam met his first girlfriend. But she broke up with him about a year ago, saying that he was too selfish and spoiled. Adam was devastated and let everything fall through.

He let the servants go, and he gave up with everything--his appearance, school, and the upkeep of the mansion. The only thing he had left of his girlfriend was the phone she left, and since then he always keep it turned on and charging, hoping for the day when she'll call back and they can start anew. Adam says he's been trying to change, but everytime he does, he's remember of the heartache and sinks back into misery. Recently, something in the charger has broke and the phone is beginning to die, and Belle suspects Adam's will is going along with it. She see something in him, and helps him get better while having fun with him in the mansion.

Garrison, having not heard from Belle for a week and a half, is fed up with it and finds out that the last anyone heard from Belle, she was going to Adam's mansion. He's angry and wants Belle for himself, so he leads the entire football team to his mansion to get Belle back. Once they see the army of stray animals, however, they run off screaming about disease and homework they have to finish. Garrison gets through the house to Adam, where he tries fighting him. Adam resists, and in the fray, Garrison pulls a knife and stabs him. Belle had tried her phone and found that she had reception again, calling the police when the football team broke in. There, they arrest Garrison and ship Adam off to the hospital. Garrison is sent to Jail and Adam is healed. When he returns to school, he is a completely changed person, and he and Belle couldn't be happier.

*content sigh* That story gets me everytime. Well, for this contest, I wanted to make All of them look real, so I drew them in normal clothes that looked like their outfit from the movie, right down to the colors. Pretty proud of tha aspect ^_^ I didn't mean for the brown hair color all over Adam to be so distinct, it wasn't before I scanned it, but, hopefully it still looks ok. I only made Lefou into Fuji because the name sounded familiar, so don't get mad that he's asian, and a nerd, and his name's Fuji...it just went with the story. I do hope everything came out ok!
